Zjelva News
- G.P.S. (Global Popular Sound) is the name of the dance night by dj's Stroke69 and mps PILOT. After parties in the Winston, Blijburg and Flexbar, we're happy to announce a party in another venue in Amsterdam: Cafe Pakhuis Wilhelmina. Friday 27 August we say hello to LOONALOOP and guest-dj Kareem Raihani. Check our website GPS feast for more information.
- As of May 2010, Sacco Koster has split up his dj'ing activities and taken up two new monikers instead of the name Zjelva: as dj Feetback, Sacco will spin the best classic tunes of the past 60 years. Under the name of Stroke69 he will spin 'global & organic grooves' and chill-out tunes. See their separate sections for more info on that.
- After an eight year interruption, Zjelva Pro Motions has decided to pick up bookings again for the best Czech electronic live band: Ohm Square. We're stimulated by the release of their last two albums on the German Mole/Listening Pearls label. We still pleasantly recall the cooperation with Mole and their Dutch representatives of United Recordings, after they had released Yonderboi's debut album in 2000. Of course we hope to be able to repeat the succes we had back then.
- We're very happy to announce a completely new band in the Zjelva Pro Motions agency: BCUC from Soweto/South Africa. The name stands for Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness. you can find out what that means on the band's website. We're sure they will spread their call for spiritual freedom this summer on the European festival stages. ZPM will only take care of bookings outside the Netherlands. On the band's website you'll find contact details for Jorien Waanders, who's in charge of bookings within the Netherlands.
- The third cd by Loonaloop is called 'Skipping Stones' and can be downloaded on iTunes. The band will tour Europe again from the end of June till September. On youtube you can watch some nice live clips from their 2009 tour, ao. here and here .
- Our American piano hero Gentry Bronson toured Europe between 6 October and 14 November 2009. To celebrate this, he released the EP 'Gentry Bronson' with four brand new tracks. Various clips of his tour have been posted on Youtube. You'll find the most beautiful ones by searching for 'gentry bronson groene zwaan'.
- The track 'Strawberries' by Alice Rose was used during the 'Harbour safari' that was held in Amsterdam in September 2009. A special cd with 5 new tracks has been released and was for sale at the Harbour safari trips. More info about this event on the website of the Harbour Safari. 16 October, Alice performed live at WMDC in Rotterdam for recordings for Numoon @ NPS Cultura. The result can be viewed right here.
- December 2008, Zjelva Pro Motions launched the website Avondsong. It's dedicated to the song 'Avond' by Boudewijn de Groot, which was released in English as an mp3 on Zjelva Records by Gentry Bronson and Jesse Brewster. Since 1 november 2008, the song has been available on iTunes. Thanks to the Avondsong website, also people outside the Netherlands are enabled to inform themselves about the unique history of this Dutch popclassic.
